[gesture to group] to find out more about theirs.
Opportunity:
Sarah-Jane: I’d always wanted to work in a
truly global firm. But the reality of global work still surprises
me. It’s not a case of just hearing about what’s going on in London
or, say, Hong Kong – I work on innovative cross-border transactions
every single day. I’m given a lot of freedom and it’s important to
make the most of that. I, and the partners I work for, manage my
workload so that I enjoy a good balance, whilst having the chance
to broaden my learning through new experiences.
The type of clients and deals gives me opportunities that are
second to none. If it’s good for your development and good for the
business, there really are no restrictions on what you can do and
achieve here.
Ambition:
Adam: My ambition is to become one of the best
Lawyers in what I do. That’s why I joined Linklaters. As a
business, we want to become the leading premium global law firm,
which goes hand in hand with me realising my aspirations. I get to
work alongside people who are the best in their fields. Every
single challenge I’m presented with, whether it’s a big global deal
or simply helping out a colleague, takes me a step closer to
achieving my aim.
Ambition is not simply a buzzword. As a firm and individually,
we have a record of setting targets and surpassing them. Combining
the aspirations of exceptionally talented people really is a
powerful tool for progression.
Challenge:
Richard: Much of what we do every day is
high-profile, ground breaking and global. It takes commitment,
drive and ambition – on top of talent - to push through the
challenging and complex deals found here. No transaction is ever
the same and many of the deals we work on are truly innovative
world-firsts.
The reality is you have to be prepared for anything - a
multi-billion dollar deal could literally appear overnight. But
that’s what I love about my career – the intellectual challenge and
the excitement. It’s never dull. And you always feel like you’re
progressing.
Learning:
Alex: Linklaters’ ability to create world-class
lawyers isn’t something that happens by chance. First-class
training and development programmes are part of the deal and
they’re part of the way of life here. In fact, our programmes are
designed to be consistent across the world so that everyone at
Linklaters receives the same quality of ongoing professional
development.
Importantly though, the complex and challenging global work
you’ll be involved with every day will mean you’re always
developing and adding to your skills. You’re constantly building a
broader legal and commercial understanding – not just from the work
you’ll be doing, but also from the talented team around you.
There’s a real open door approach here and everyone makes time to
help one another. If you’ve got something that you need a hand
with, there’s always someone you can ask.
Teamwork:
Krishna: The types of transaction Linklaters
works on can’t be performed by just one lawyer. If a client comes
to us with a problem, it’s our job to find a way to solve it,
together. Our work is all about solutions. And teamwork is at the
centre of everything we do. For us, the friendly, professional
culture throughout the firm is an incredibly effective way of
working. And a rewarding one.
To be the leading premium law firm in the world, we need to give
the best possible service to every client, in every deal. The
different perspectives, skills and interests of the people who work
here help us offer innovative solutions to the most demanding
challenges. And our collective success is based on co-operation
between individuals from every department and every office around
the globe.
Meritocracy:
Paul: The reality is this: as a firm, our goal
is to become the best premium global law firm. But we also
recognise that our potential is simply an extension of the people
who work here. That’s why I’m encouraged to realise my own
ambitions and potential at every stage of my career. And I’m
rewarded well for doing so. To be the best law firm, you need to
have the best people at every level.
At Linklaters, people are rewarded and promoted on merit.
Whether it’s great work on a challenging deal or helping out within
our local community, high performance is recognised - and
celebrated. It’s a way of working that’s helping us establish a
tradition of excellence, entrepreneurial drive and corporate social
responsibility. You don’t find boundaries here – just
opportunities.
