Christmas vacation scheme

The Christmas vacation scheme lasts two weeks and provides an intensive introduction for final-year undergraduate students who are studying something other than law. The structure is very much the same as the Summer vacation scheme – a mix of live experience, seminars and personal project work backed up by a range of social activities. As always, the aim is to give you the fullest possible picture of life at Linklaters. We tune the syllabus to accommodate people who have not studied law, but you will still tackle real legal work, just as a trainee would.

You will need to be an undergraduate student studying in a UK or Irish university in order to apply for the Christmas vacation scheme. The Christmas vacation scheme is especially for undergraduate non-law students in their final year of study.

Realistic experience

Our aim is to give you genuine experience of our work, our people and our culture so that you can decide if you will enjoy training to be a business lawyer with Linklaters. You will go through a rigorous selection process to win a place on a scheme but, once you start, the emphasis is on adding to your skills rather than testing you.

Just like a trainee

We'll treat you just like a trainee: you sit with a principal and you will be involved in real deals; you will work hard but you will also enjoy an active social schedule, allowing you to get to know other students on the scheme.

Exceptional circumstances

We know that local variations in the academic calendar can make attendance during the Autumn term difficult for some people, so we also make a few places available on the Summer vacation scheme for non-law students.

When it's over

When you have finished the vacation scheme, you are automatically offered an opportunity to be interviewed for a training contract with us. So if you apply for a vacation scheme, you don't have to apply separately for a training contract.
