Law Students

First year programme - Pathfinder
Two-day insight programme into careers in law at Linklaters.

Summer vacation scheme
Four-week programmes. Apply October to January in penultimate year. Interviews in January and February.

Apply for training contract.
Apply June to July of penultimate year. Interviews in September.

Non-law Students

Winter vacation scheme
Two-week programme. Apply October to November of final year.
Interviews in November.

Apply for training contract.
October to January of final year. Interviews in January and February.

The Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) can be undertaken at any branch of the College of Law.

Legal Practice Course (LPC)

Gateway Programme

Three weeks into the LPC, students come together for a short Gateway Programme to introduce them to the core skills they will need as a Trainee at Linklaters.

New Lawyer Global Orientation Programme

As part of your three week induction to the firm you will complete a five day programme to introduce you to topics such as: commercial awareness; global legal systems; research, analysis and drafting skills; and risk and project management.

Training contracts

Your training contract will comprise four six-month seats.

International practice

You may spend one of your seats in an international office: around two-thirds of our Trainees spend some time away from their home country.

Client secondment

You might complete one seat in a client organisation: around a quarter of our Trainees have the opportunity to go on client secondments.

Learning through experience is supported by a range of other forms of training

Specific training within practice areas. Contentious course. Coaching by your Principals and Group Trainee Solicitor Partner. Opportunities for complementary experience through pro bono work.

This is your first professional role as a qualified lawyer.

Promotion to your first management role can happen four years after qualifying.

Partnership

Partnership is open to exceptional performers who have been qualified for six or more years.

Counsel

This role is for senior lawyers who take on additional leadership and practice responsibilities alongside Partners.
