Our vacation schemes represent a remarkable opportunity to explore your future with Linklaters. If you really want to know what it’s like to be a Trainee in a global law firm, this is your chance to experience it for yourself – and take several steps towards making your ambition a reality.
You will work on real deals with clients. You will be valued as a full member of a practice team. And you will do everything a Trainee does – from attending meetings or calls with international colleagues and clients, to enjoying an active social life.
The selection process is tough, but that’s because our vacation schemes are part of your professional learning curve, rather than an extended interview. The schemes are invaluable preparation for any career choice, but the fact is that the majority of students who do a vacation scheme with Linklaters come back to train as lawyers here. We run three schemes in total over the year, two during the summer and one in winter, both invaluable for experiencing our culture and work.
"A vacation placement with Linklaters is a great way to find out if you have what it takes to become a world-class lawyer. You'll benefit from real work experience at the heart of a global law firm. You'll share an office with a qualified lawyer. You'll work on real deals and projects. And you'll feel exactly what it's like to be part of the team.
If you're a law student, you should apply for a Summer vacation scheme. If you're not studying law, you should apply for the two-week Winter vacation scheme.
We also run a Winter clerkship for Australian students and June internships for Indian students who are interested in applying for training contacts in the UK. Both of these schemes are held in London.
If you would like to read the views of student who has already done a scheme, take a look at the profile of Megan Protheroe. Her experiences are very recent. She and the other vacation scheme students are now back at university and haven't necessarily decided to join Linklaters. Of course, reading about the scheme is never the same as actually doing one. Whichever scheme you decide to do, we can guarantee you a stimulating and valuable experience."
