We do participate in a number of organisations that work with sixth formers to give them a taste of careers in law though. Look up Pure Potential, and Lawyers in Schools to see if you are eligible to apply for their schemes.

Summer vacation scheme
Our four-week summer programmes are designed for penultimate-year law students. We have worked hard to design a vacation scheme that successfully combines real life experience in our practice areas with workshops and seminars dedicated to your professional development. The hands-on part of the scheme will see you working alongside experienced lawyers in two different practice areas, doing the same kind of work as our Trainees. Our professional development sessions are designed to give you a broader understanding of our global business strategy and the demanding environment in which we work, as well as giving you the opportunity to develop your skills in areas such as business analysis, mediation and pitching to a client. Throughout your time with us, you’ll have access to experienced lawyers who will be available to support you, answer your questions and offer constructive advice and feedback.

Winter vacation scheme or Non-Law training contract
A Law degree isn’t necessary to become a solicitor. About 40% of our trainee intakes haven’t studied law and go on to become some of our leading partners and advisors. The options open top you as a non-lawyer are slightly different as you have to complete a conversion course after your degree. We encourage final year non law students to get to know us by applying for our Winter Vacation Scheme, but if you've missed the deadline or think you already know enough about us you can also apply for a training contract.
The winter vacation scheme lasts for two weeks and provides an intensive introduction to Linklaters for final-year students who are studying a degree subject other than law. The structure is very much the same as the summer scheme – a mix of real life experience, seminars and personal project work, backed up by a range of social activities. We adapt the syllabus to accommodate people who have no legal background, but the experience is still completely authentic. If you’re seriously considering Linklaters, there’s no better way to get a head start in your career.

Scottish Universities: Law degrees
If you read a Scots-Law degree and want to train in as a solicitor England, you'll need to complete the GDL and LPC before starting a training contract with us.
Graduates who have studied a degree in Scots-Law may be eligible for exemption from parts of the GDL. This depends on the content of your Law course, and it is recommended that you check with your university and the Solicitors Regulation Authority (www.sra.org.uk) for more information. If exemptions are not granted for your degree, you will need to complete the entire GDL.
Irish Universities: Law degrees
Since September 2004, law graduates from Irish universities looking to train as a solicitor in England need to have undertaken English land law within their degree. Because of this, some Irish universities have incorporated enough English land law into their degree courses to satisfy this requirement. If English land law is not part of your degree, you will have to pass a land law assessment as a stand alone module on the GDL before taking the LPC. It is recommended that you check with both your university and the Solicitors Regulation Authority (www.sra.org.uk) to find out more information.
