The work is varied but challenging and leads our Trainees and Associates alike to work on many household names, such as our recent advice given to the National Grid on its £3.3 billion rights issue in 2010.
Linklaters is home to one of the world’s pre-eminent corporate/M&A practices covering the full range of M&A work, including public takeovers, complex multi-jurisdictional deals, joint ventures, disposals and corporate restructurings. Complex cross-border M&A is a particular specialism, involving the co-ordination of large teams across different jurisdictions.
Our Competition law expertise covers merger control, cartels and dawn raids, competition litigation, market and sector investigations, abuse of dominance, state aid, public procurement and economic or utilities regulation.
Our Employment & Incentives practice advises corporates and financial institutions on their share plans and tax requirements. The team also advises on day-to-day issues, including contracts and terminations, recruitment and retention, employee transfers, discrimination and dismissal, works councils, health and safety and immigration. The team also advise on the employment and incentives issues related to M&A transactions. In addition, the team advises on contentious issues, defending discrimination and dismissal claims.
Our Environment & Climate Change practice advises on environment issues that will affect global trade for years to come. These include climate change, carbon capture and storage, and the scope and application of the Equator Principles, as well as lender’s liability, ethical investment, product stewardship and corporate governance.
Our Investment Management Group advises on the structuring, formation, taxation and regulation of all types of investment funds for investment in all types of asset classes: including real estate, securities, debt, derivatives and other alternative financial instruments, large pension funds, private equity, infrastructure and green energy type investments. We also actively represent a select group of institutional investors on their investments in private investment funds.
Our Pensions practice advises on the pensions aspects of M&A transactions, including corporate and pension scheme mergers and buyouts. We also offer day-to-day technical and administrative advice on running pensions schemes.
